Mentoring

Several techniques are used to ensure the mentoring process is both rigorous and conclusive. Scenario thinking and envisioning are particularly useful in many cases. Here are three examples from the varied mentoring assignments undertaken:

  • a recently appointed partner in a professional service firm who required support to adjust to his new role where he was no longer ‘one of the boys’ and yet felt uncomfortable with his senior peers
  • two women with a brilliant new business idea but no shared sense of direction who needed support to build structure into their activities
  • two successful businessmen in partnership and one decided to retire. He wanted to sell the whole business. The other partner engaged Firm Ideas to help him ascertain whether he would accept the sale or choose to buy-out his colleague and take ownership of the whole business
